Max Scratchmann: Last of the Burrah Sahibs
Max Sctratchmann was born in Calcutta, India, to Scottish parents in 1956. His autobiographical book, The Last Burrah Sahibs is a warm and witty look at the unofficial last years of British colonial life as Scots from Dundee were running jute mills in India and what was then East Pakistan in the 1960s, seen through the small boy's eyes of the son of one of the jute wallahs.
"Scratchmann tells his story and introduces his characters with the easy style of a practiced humorist" The Scots Magazine.
